Summer Skin Care

Now that summer is here, it means heat, sweat, and getting all sticky and greasy. I know none of that is fun, you feel weird, irritated and if you are like me then you don't want to do anything but don't worry I'll fill you in with all the things you need to do this summer to feel a bit better even though summer is summer but something is better than nothing.

        1.  Sunscreen:

The most important thing to do in summer wears sunscreen. Rays from sunlight have harmful UV rays which damage your skin and cause skin cancer. Since these rays are extra strong in summer it is crucial to wear sunscreen especially if you are going out somewhere. Sunscreens labeled SPF-30, broad-spectrum, and lip protection are the best, and yes, lip cancer can be caused due to UV rays.

2.   Moisturizer:

Moisturizer is not only effective in winters, but it is also important in summers. In summers you should use a light moisturizer that feels light on your skin and is not greasy. You can use a tinted moisturizer with SPF-30 like Elta MD or Colorescience which can be applied on makeup.

3. Light make-up:

I know you guys love makeup but in summer you should wear light makeup if you want your skin to breathe. It's better to use a tinted moisturizer to give yourself that glow than to use heavy makeup since you are going to sweat a lot and your makeup is eventually going to fade away. Also, heavy makeup can clog your pores which can lead to more problems.

4.  Exfoliate:

Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to give your skin a natural glow since it removes dead cells and open pores that have been clogged due to sweat and sunscreen. You should use a scrub that goes well with your skin.

5.  Antioxidant:

Antioxidants hydrate your skin, improve the structure of collagen fibers and prevent damage due to free radicals. Vitamin C serum works best as an antioxidant. You can also eat citrus fruits since it also helps.

6. Hydrating skin:

You should keep your skin hydrated because you sweat a lot in summer and it can lead to dehydration. To do this you use a hydrating mask before you go to sleep. You should drink lots of water, 1-2 liters is a must. You can hydrate yourself by eating fruits that are rich in water like watermelons. Drinking juice and lemon water is better than drinking coca-cola and Pepsi.

7. Toner:

Toner

Toners are light therefore they are good for summers. They prevent pores from getting clogged and prevent acne, whiteheads, and blackheads. It also hydrates your skin. Aloe Vera and cucumber toners are what I'd recommend.

            8. Self-tanners:

Some people get more tanned than getting sunburned, even if they think they can skip sunscreen they shouldn't because tan is caused due to damage to the skin. So if you like tanning, you can use self-tanners like"Jergens self-tanners".

9. Washing Face:

Washing face

You should wash your face twice a day. For oily skin, the water-based cleanser is better and for dry skin non-foaming, one is better. You shouldn't wash your all the time as it will wash away the natural moisturizer your body makes due to which your skin becomes dry and flaky.

10. Skin care routine:

You should have a summer skincare routine and you should follow it consistently. Go for gel-based or water-based products as they will be light on your skin and avoid any heavy cream-based products.

11. Clothes:

In summer, I think cotton clothes are the best as they are very light. Also wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses also protect from UV radiation.

       Conclusion:

In summer, it is best to stick to a light makeup routine. Use sunscreen, and moisturizer, and avoid direct sunlight. Wear light clothes and just take care of yourself and your body will thank you for that and even you will feel better and will enjoy your summers. Hope this helps you in some way.
